Restaurant Review: The Grey Dog

The Grey Dog is a chain of restaurants that primarily serve brunch. I came here for dinner.

I ordered the fish tacos which cost about sixteen dollars and came with either fries or a salad. The tacos were larger than the miniaturized tacos I was used to getting in Manhattan restaurants, but the food was still okay.

Overall, the place was pricey with average food. I’m not sure I’d recommend it. I didn’t have brunch here though so I can’t speak to that. They also have one or two vegan things that got my vegan friend’s stamp of approval.

Chickls is a halal food truck that serves fried chicken. Just tenders and nuggets, no actual pieces of chicken. What’s most amazing to me about this truck are the reasonable prices and that they honored the free chicken tenders promised on the menu above.

Restaurant Review: Fried Dumpling Jie Jie Sheng

Details: Located at 40-04 Union St, Flushing, NY 11355. You can find an unclaimed Yelp site at

Fried Dumpling Jie Jie Sheng is a really cheap place to get some dumplings and other Chinese food items.

They sell five dumplings for $1.75. That’s the biggest draw. They have a bunch of other things like hot and sour soup, scallion pancake, sesame pancakes, spring rolls. It’s not an extensive menu. It’s just mostly fried goods and some soups.

The place is small and dirty. Most of the patrons are Chinese, mostly immigrants. The person who takes your order speaks workable English though.

Overall, this is a great place to get cheap eats. If you need a quick bite for cheap, there are few places as good as this.
