Fast Food Review: McDonald’s Caramel Iced Coffee

Score: 7.2/10

Every week (or maybe every day) I get a coupon in my McDonald’s app where I can get a coffee of any size for one dollar. Usually, I get a large ice coffee with caramel flavor… for one dollar. And it tastes pretty good. I mean, it is obscenely sweet, but that’s what I wanted when I asked for caramel. I can’t think of any of other business or franchise that will sell me a decently tasting large ice coffee with heavy caramel flavor shots for only a dollar. For that reason alone, I think McDonald’s coffee is better than every other coffee place in my area, including places like Starbucks. As long as the price, size, and flavor remain the same, McDonald’s will be my go to spot for ice coffee.

Fast Food Review: Dunkin’ Donuts Hot Macchiato

Score: 6.8/10

As the official website states, Dunkin’s hot macchiato is basically a cup of milk with two shots of expresso. They let you get a complimentary flavor shot. I got mocha.

Overall, this was pretty good. It cost about four dollars though, which is a lot. Starbucks is more expensive, but this still a lot for what is mostly milk. I will say that this thing has an impressive amount of caffeine. The day that I purchased this I was in a rush and drank about half the cup at once. That was a mistake as it gave me the caffeine jitters, something I don’t normally get. So if you need a jolt of caffeine, a cup of this stuff will do the trick.

Restaurant Review: Matto Espresso

Details: Located at 114 E 40th St, New York, NY 10016. Official site is

The main sell of Matto is that everything here costs two dollars before tax. Everything. Coffee, baked goods, etc. The location I went to was nice, though there’s no place to sit. I tried a feta cheese filled pastry that I can’t remember the name of and a whole wheat croissant sandwich with egg and other stuff in it. Both were okay.

You need to keep in mind that every product is sized to the price of two dollars. For example, they have bagels with smoked salmon, but they’re tiny. Also, I came by around eleven and you could taste that the food had sat there for a while. It made me a little sick.

Overall, this place is fine for some cheap breakfast. I think I prefer one of the many breakfast food carts around the city over Matto though.

Score: 5/10

Starbucks Reserve Roastery is basically a really upscale Starbucks. The interior is magnificent. Unfortunately, the food and drink aren’t too spectacular, just expensive.
