Second Life Ranker is the latest isekai manhwa I’ve been reading to get my isekai fix. Like many of the Korean web comics of this type, it follows a lot of the same tropes.
The basic premise is that a Korean military veteran’s brother disappeared years ago and he receives a package from the brother. Inside is a watch that gives the veteran all of his brother’s memories. Turns out, the brother was transported to a fantasy world and lived a life there until he was betrayed by his friends and killed. Now, the veteran, equipped with his brother’s memories, seeks to travel to that fantasy world and get revenge on those who betrayed his brother.
The story is okay. It’s a lot of the same as in any other story in this genre. The protagonist gets over powered very quickly thanks to his brother’s memories. He makes some friends, he kills some bad guys.
The art isn’t amazing, but it’s tolerable.
Overall, the story was just decent enough to keep me interested. If you’re looking for something new to read in the “transported to a fantasy world governed by the rules of video games” genre, this is about as good as any.
