Sonic the Hedgehog is a surprisingly fun children’s movie and is fine to watch with your family.
Sonic is a creature of immense power from another dimension. He knows people want to take his power, so he mostly hides out on our world, not really talking to anyone. When the United States government discovers his presence, Sonic must now travel with a new friend to San Francisco in hopes of finding safety.
It’s a ridiculous plot, as expected of a children’s movie, but it’s fun. The jokes aren’t immensely hilarious, but they have good energy.
The biggest surprise was Jim Carrey. It’s been so long since I’ve seen Carrey in anything. It was nice to see him exercise some that trademarked frenetic comedy he was known for.
Overall, this was a fun movie for the family. Not terrible, but not amazing.
