Details: I’ve read about twenty chapters. Also known as 탐식의 재림
We’ve really entered a sort of golden age for Korean web comics. There are bunch gaining massive popularity among manga fans. It’s still a bit early, but The Second Coming of Gluttony checks off all the boxes necessary to be just as popular. Now if only it was published more regularly.
The Second Coming of Gluttony takes place in modern day Korea. A teenager has seemingly been given memories from his future self and must now navigate his way through off world instances where he must solve some problem. The story is still very early on and there are many mysteries left to reveal. I think its based on a series of light novels.
The first thing that’s worth mentioning is that the art is very good. There has been a noticeable increase in the quality of Korean online comics and this comic is the latest series to have such good art. For that reason alone, I’d read this story.
The story itself is pretty standard for the isekai genre. Inheriting memories from your future self, video game-like superpowers, an overpowered protagonist, these are all common tropes in the isekai genre. These are all present here. If you like the genre, you’ll like this. There is also a growing trend for greater violence and gore in the genre. That’s present here as well.
Overall, this series is too early to jump to conclusions to, but I like what I see so far. If you’re looking for a new series to jump into and you like the isekai genre, this is about as good as any.
