This is a new Japanese style ramen place in Flushing. They got some kinks to work out, but the food is good and the interior is well designed and comfortable.
The seating here is interesting. They got some booths downstairs and some counter seating. However, the primary seating area is upstairs and seats about fifteen to twenty people from the looks of it.
We ordered the Combination B (cost $35), which is a meal meant for two people. It comes a bowl of Kyushu Tonkotsu Shio Ramen, a bowl of Miso Ramen (this ramen is pretty spicy, although they do not indicate that in the menu), popcorn chicken, and two desserts.
As said above, the miso ramen is very spicy (at least to me), which wouldn’t be an issue if they indicated that. However, when I asked the waiter, they confirmed that the owner deliberately decided not to indicate that the miso ramen is spicy. I have no idea why. The tonkotsu ramen was very good and had a very strong garlic taste. Popcorn chicken was lackluster, but not the star of the meal so it didn’t bother me. The only dessert they had was the matcha pudding with red bean, which is unfortunate because I wanted to try the Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly that the menu said would come with this meal. The pudding was good though.
I think what I liked most of this place was just the ambiance. I don’t know if they do this all the time, but they had some live music here which was pretty great. It was a Japanese style singer, picture below.
She was real nice and sang a song for us. There’s also this cool wall behind her where you get to write wishes and hang them up.
This was a fun bit of activity for patrons to participate in.
Overall, this place was fun. They are still working on some stuff, like missing desserts and a menu that leaves out important information. Otherwise, I had fun here and I recommend people give this place a try in a few weeks, after they’ve ironed out all the kinks.
