Edit: So this place charges extra for using credit cards on top of sales tax, which wouldn’t be so bad except that they don’t tell you about it until after they charge you. Most places also ask the customer if they want a receipt. This place never does, probably to hide the extra charges. Normally, businesses cover any fees associated with using credit cards and do not pass those costs down to the customer. Furthermore, we have no idea if the credit card charge is right or they’re just charging whatever they want. It’s sneaky and deceptive of them to do so. I’m changing the score down to a 3/10 for this.
Caffe Venice is a relatively new deli that opened in the area. I’m not sure if their prices are just good or if they gave me a special deal since they just opened.
I ordered their version of an Italian sandwich. I don’t remember what was in it, but it was Italian (I guess American-Italian) cold cuts, lettuce, tomato, cheese on a roll. Although I didn’t order it, it came with a can of soda and chips.
The price was only $6.50, which is ridiculous considering the neighborhood. Midtown east usually prices sandwiches closer to ten dollars.
In any case, this has no become the go to spot to get deli sandwiches in the area. The price is simply too good compared to other delis. The only issue is that I’m unsure that price will remain as it only recently opened.
