With Sugar & Tea is a relatively new bubble tea place. This place was good, but relatively pricey and small.
I forget the name of what I ordered, but it’s their number one on a hand written white board at the cash register. I think it’s called something like the black tea bubble brown sugar baked milk… or something like that.
It’s basically brown sugar bubble milk tea, which is all the rage right now. The tapioca at the bottom layer and is warm and noticeably delicious. The middle layer is the milk tea where the brown sugar effect is prominent visually and in terms of taste. The next layer is milk/cheese foam. Then they sprinkle some more brown sugar on top of that. Then they BLOW TORCH the top to give it a creme brulee-ish effect.
The cup itself is also smart and a step forward from other cups. New fangled bubble tea cups have a small cap in the lid that you can plug in and unplug, in case you want to sip the tea instead of drinking it out of a straw. That cap is easy to lose and the caps at this bubble tea place are actually attached to the cup so you’ll never lose them. A small, but nice touch.
This thing was one of the best bubble teas I’ve had in recent memory. The warm tapioca was great. The brown sugar taste was great. The foam was great. Everything was great. The only downside is that I ordered a medium and that medium is easily the smallest medium bubble tea of any of the bubble tea shops in Flushing. The price was also about $6.80 after tax, making it one of the most expensive and smallest cups of bubble tea I’ve ever had.
Overall, this place was great, but too expensive and too small. The tea was good, but not so good that it is incomparable to other bubble tea places. I think the determining factor for not ever coming back is the small serving size of the tea.
