Details: Located at 114 E 40th St, New York, NY 10016. Official site is http://www.matto.com/
The main sell of Matto is that everything here costs two dollars before tax. Everything. Coffee, baked goods, etc. The location I went to was nice, though there’s no place to sit. I tried a feta cheese filled pastry that I can’t remember the name of and a whole wheat croissant sandwich with egg and other stuff in it. Both were okay.
You need to keep in mind that every product is sized to the price of two dollars. For example, they have bagels with smoked salmon, but they’re tiny. Also, I came by around eleven and you could taste that the food had sat there for a while. It made me a little sick.
Overall, this place is fine for some cheap breakfast. I think I prefer one of the many breakfast food carts around the city over Matto though.
