Sons of Thunder is yet another trendy poke place. While there are a lot of good aspects of this place, the food is overpriced. You’re better off going to Red Poke in midtown west if you have the option.
I ordered a salmon poke bowl for about fifteen dollars after tax. Most of the sides are extra. The free ones were some green and a seaweed salad. The portion of salmon was less than I wanted. It was okay. The taste was average and the portion was a little less than I was expecting for fifteen dollars.
The menu also has milk shakes, fries, hot dogs, and some other stuff.
The space is really nice. It’s large, clean and comfortable. Service was great, too.
Overall, I don’t think I’d ever come back nor would I recommend this place. There are simply too many other poke places that cost less and offer more. I can also think of a number of competing Manhattan poke places that taste better. If you want poke, try somewhere else.
