Red Bowl is practically an institution in Flushing. It’s been around for years. Relatively recently, they did a renovation and I decided to come by. The main things to know about this place are the lunch specials and that it closes at 3:00 AM.

I came by to try their Taiwanese pork chop over rice and some pork and preserved egg congee. Both were okay, but no where near close to the best I’ve ever had. They both costs somewhere between five and ten dollars.

The interior is now full of benches instead of the old family style round tables. The menu is like a greatest hits of popular Chinese food. They have dim sum, hot pot, Cantonese barbecue, etc. Based on the food I had and what I saw, the food doesn’t look amazing. It is available at two in the morning though.

Service is about as rude as you’d expect from this kind of cheap Chinese food restaurant. That’s par for the course.

Overall, a decent enough and cheap enough place to get Chinese food after midnight.

Score: 6.2/10
