How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is the last in this trilogy of animated movies about a boy and his pet dragon. It’s a fun movie and a nice send off for the series.

The Hidden World picks up a few years after the last movie. Hiccup and the rest of his village have turned their home island into a safe haven for dragons. When a brilliant dragon poacher shows up and intends on capturing or killing all the dragons on their island, Hiccup and his friends must find a mysterious hidden sanctuary where they can hide the dragons.

The story is okay. If you’re not high on nostalgia, then the movie will just be okay. I think the best parts of this movie are everything other than the plot.

The detailed animations of the dragons is one of my favorite parts of this movie. For the most parts, the dragons act like giant cats and dogs. They are adorable, and it’s clear the animators modeled the dragon’s behaviors off pets.

The visuals are likely the best part of this movie. The spectacle of flying through the sky is always breathtaking.

The plot may not have struck a chord with me, but that soundtrack definitely hit me in the feels a number of times.

Overall, this was a good movie. If you liked the last two movies, you’ll really like this one. I was not an emotional wreck because of this movie, but by the end of it, I did have a few feels.

Score: 7/10
