With the release of the new Titans television series, it seemed apt to have a similarly named comic book also be released along side of it for a little cross promotion. Titans the comic book does not relate at all to the television series and instead seeks to bring back the old roster of the original Teen Titans and set them on new adventures. Unfortunately, this book just ends up overly dramatic and kind of boring. The art is also not really doing it for me.

After DC Comics’ Rebirth event, a lot of series got rebooted. A lot of continuity got erased. Titans seeks to restore that continuity by creating some sort of events where the Titans remember their past lives. They then get into adventures and various drama that reminded me a little of a CW show. After the Titans television show premiered, the roster changed to something more akin to the cast of the show.

Overall, the book is pretty boring. The art overly exaggerates characters’ expressions. The arts not terrible, it just doesn’t fit the tone of the stories. It’s too cartoon-y. I also didn’t enjoy the half-assed plot. If you’re a die hard fan of the Teen Titans property, maybe read this book. Then again, this might just kill your love of the franchise.
