Sweetcatch is yet another poke franchise trying to make its way in New York City.
Poke is a Hawaiian dish that’s generally just a sashimi salad. It’s raw fish dressed in some sauce and with a few other ingredients depending on your preference.
Sweetcatch has poke bowls and burritos (that’s poke wrapped in white rice so as to look like a giant roll of sushi). I’ve been here a few times and I generally get a half salad half rice bowl with the classic salmon, pineapple, seaweed salad, crab salad and fried garlic. The ingredients I get are free, but there are premium ingredients that you have to pay for. The price of a bowl generally around fifteen dollars, which is really pricey in my opinion.
The bowls themselves are okay. One small tip is to never order the Firecracker and to just add a container of spicy mayo to whatever you’re eating. The Firecracker tastes too watered down to me.
Overall, this place is fine although it is priced a little higher than competing poke places.
