Jurrasic World: Fallen Kingdom achieves whole new levels of crazy and stupid. It’s a completely nonsensical story that follows the classic horror tropes of characters doing deliberately stupid things. I still sort of enjoyed it in a perverse way, but this movie is stupid.

Fallen Kingdom picks up where the last movie left off. The island where the dinosaurs are running wild has an active volcano that’s about to explode and kill all the dinosaurs. The two main characters from the last movie are recruited by an organization that seeks to save some dinosaurs and preserve the species. As the story progresses, we learn that this organization is not as honest as they appear to be and our protagonists must now save the dinosaurs from a volcano and from exploitation.

There’s a lot of action in this movie. If you like seeing people getting eaten by dinosaurs, this is the film for you. Lots of no name grunts get mauled to death. The story itself is nonsense. It doesn’t make all that much sense and the character motivations are stupid. Characters consistently do stupid things and then we get to watch them get eaten by dinosaurs.

The special effects are pretty damn good though. It looks like a combination of animatronics and computer generated images.

Overall, this was a dumb movie. However, I know friends who enjoy exactly this level of stupid in their movies. If you are one of those people, you will likely enjoy this movie, too. I sort of did.
