Deadpool 2 does what a sequel should do. It’s Deadpool with a bigger budget, more action, more special effects, more cameos, and about the same amount of jokes.

Deadpool 2 picks up not long after the first Deadpool movie. Deadpool is doing his superhero thing, fighting bad guys and all the consequences that come from that when Cable shows up from the future and wants to kill a kid. Deadpool decides to protect this kid and Cable and Deadpool now have to fight each other.

Deadpool 2 is primarily an action movie and a comedy. There’s some drama, but almost everything in the movie is setup for a joke. There are a lot of surprise developments and surprise appearances in the film which just add to the uniqueness of this character. Deadpool is a self aware character, often times breaking the fourth wall in order to make quips and jokes.

There were a lot of jokes made. Many did not work, but many did. Some scenes in particular, especially the ones with Deadpool’s newly assembled superhero group, X-Force, were especially funny.

The action was fine, nothing extraordinary. It’s a rated R movie so be prepared to see a lot of blood and guts. This is primarily a comedy though so it’s more like Looney Tunes, less like Human Centipede.

Overall, I really enjoyed Deadpool 2. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. If you’re okay with a little bloody action, superhero movies and juvenile humor, you will likely enjoy Deadpool 2 as well.

Additionally, there is a mid credits scene, but no after credits scene.

Score: 7.4/10
