Cafe Du Soleil is a casual French restaurant on the Upper West Side near Columbia University.
I ordered the Boeuf Bourguignon (braised beef in red wine sauce, mushrooms, pearl onions, bacon, and fettuccine for $28) and had the Tarte Tatin (upside down warm caramelized apple tart for $6). The bourguignon was pretty good. The tarte was okay, but it tasted a little burnt.
Service was very nice. The interior was dimly lit, packed with people, and comfortable.
Overall, a great place to eat if you live in the neighborhood. I don’t know if it’s worth a trip uptown though.
