Bar Review: Slowly Shirley

Details: Located down a flighty of stairs in The Happiest Hour, at 121 W 10th St, New York, NY 10011. The official site is

Slowly Shirley is one of the classiest, most expensive places I’ve ever been to get a drink. With that said, the drinks also seem to be some of the best tasting and best quality drinks you will likely find in the city.

Slowly Shirley is very much a speakeasy; a kind of hidden away bar. It’s location is somewhat redundant in that it is a bar located inside another bar. What distinguishes this place is the environment, the quality of service, and the quality of its drinks.

The price of drinks is not cheap. Some items on the menu ranged from around fifteen dollars to around sixty dollars. If you want to come here, you better bring some money.

The place is very cozy and very classy. If you want to impress a girl, this is a pretty good place to do it. I will say that it was a little warm and stuffy the night I went.

Overall, I’m probably never coming back because I’m cheap. If you do have money to burn and are looking for a quality cocktail, this is the place.

Score: 6.3/10
