Restaurant Review: Calle Ocho

Calle Ocho is a Cuban restaurant across the street from a museum (can’t remember which one) and inside a hotel.

The first thing you notice is the interior. It’s a large space with a colorful interior design. There’s a bar area and a larger dining area. It’s a comfortable environment.

I ordered the Bistec, which was a steak with a chimichurri sauce, yuca fries and a small salad for around thirty dollars. It was just okay, though I did enjoy those yuca fries. I also tried some of my friend’s domino dark chocolate cake. That was also just okay.

Service was good.

I think the most important thing to take away from this place is that the complimentary bread they give you was amazing. It was some kind of cheese bread and very chewy. It came with some kind of black bean spread which was also good, like a black butter. Like Red Lobster, just getting the complimentary bread is worth a trip to this place. They also keep refilling that bread basket for free, so you know I had multiple servings.

Overall, a decent place with amazing free bread. I enjoyed the bread more than anything else I had.
