Movie Review: Keanu

Details: Released in 2016. About an hour and forty minutes long. Stars Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele.

Keanu is a movie from Key and Peele. It’s about two not very “street” guys who try to retrieve a cat from some very “street” gangbangers.

The grand majority of the jokes in this film relate to how to act “street.” The jokes are all right, but not amazing. Key and Peele have done much better comedy in their television series than here. I think it might have to do with the fact that sketches on Key and Peele are short and can just touch upon a subject without overstaying their welcome. This movie felt like it took too long.

There are some good supporting actors surprise appearances. With this type of comedy though, they could definitely used more guest appearances of well-known actors and comedians.

Overall, it’s not a terrible movie. Just not great either. The best part of the movie was a scene involving drugs and a guest appearance. I won’t say any more. Other than that, this was a mediocre movie.

Score: 5/10
